Eastern Europe & Central Asia Cervical Cancer Prevention Alliance: 2nd Forum Meeting

Please join UNFPA Eastern Europe & Central Asia for the 2nd forum meeting of the Regional Cervical Cancer Prevention Alliance. The EECA Regional Alliance for Cervical Cancer Prevention was initiated by the UNFPA Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia with support from UNFPA country offices as a multi-county, multi-partner cooperation framework to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem in EECA countries.

Building Partnerships to Strengthen Cervical Cancer Prevention in Eastern Europe and Central Asia

Cervical Cancer - the Global Situation

Each year, more than 570,000 new cases of cervical cancer and 311,000 deaths from the disease occur globally; these numbers are predicted to increase to more than 700,000 new cases and 400,000 deaths per year by 2030. The vast majority of these new cases and deaths occur among disadvantaged women living in low-, lower-middle- and upper-middle-income countries, which lack the effective cervical cancer prevention programmes that are common in high-income countries.

Building Youth-Friendly Cities in a World of 8 Billion People: Regional Forum for Mayors and Young People from Eastern Europe and Central Asia

The world population is reaching the 8 billion mark on 15 November 2022. As part of UNFPA’s Demographic Resilience programme, the UNFPA Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, in partnership with the Associations of Municipalities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH and RS) are convening a regional event on advancing policies on inclusive cities where every young person’s potential is leveraged to support improvements in human capital, demographic resilience and achievement of the SDGs.
