The 3-year programme "EU 4 Gender Equality: Together Against Gender Stereotypes and Gender-Based Violence” seeks to strengthen equal rights and opportunities for women and men by shifting social perceptions around gender roles, tackling gender stereotypes and increasing men’s participation in childcare and other domestic responsibilities.
In its first year, and in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, EU 4 Gender Equality made significant strides in combating social norms that harm men and women. From starting father's clubs for hundreds of dads to launching awareness campaigns seen by millions, the programme made a difference at the grassroots level.
The programme is funded by the European Union and implemented jointly by UN Women and UNFPA in the Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. This brief highlights achievements in all six countries, starting from the programme's launch in spring 2020 until one year later.
