Mission and objectives
UNFPA’s global mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is healthy and wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA expands the possibilities for women and young people to lead healthy and productive lives. UNFPA has been operating in Turkey since 1971, currently running its 6th Country Programme in more than 20 provinces. Delivery of accessible and rights-based reproductive health and youth-friendly services particularly targeting vulnerable groups, prevention of child, early and forced marriage, promotion of gender equality, prevention of gender-based violence, in-depth analysis of population dynamics are the main aims of UNFPA 6th Country Programme (2016-2020) and 7th Country Programme (2021-2025). UNFPA works with governments, universities, CSOs and the private sector to support data collection, service delivery, capacity enhancement-trainings, and policy/legislation design. Under the UNFPA Development Programme, two projects regarding prevention of child, early and forced marriage (CEFM) have been implemented.
Context
Within the context of UNFPA’s 2022-2025 Regional Programme for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA), and in line with UNFPA HQ ICT ((Information and Communication Technologies) policies, the ICT Junior Specialist will support to achieve the followings:
● Implementation of UNFPA corporate ICT Strategies and Plans
● Compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines and procedures for the RO technology environment
● Support to UNFPA’s ERP system Quantum and other corporate applications
● Effective customer support
● Management of resources
● Confidentiality, integrity and availability of all ICT Systems
The UN Volunteer will work as part of the Operations Team of the UNFPA Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) Regional Office (RO), under the direct supervision of the UNFPA Regional ICT Specialist providing support to the Regional Office and Country Offices (COs) in the EECA region on ICT related issues. The UN Volunteer may conduct some missions to the countries to support ICT related upgrades and corporate systems roll-out on as needed basis.
Task description
The UN Volunteer ICT Junior Specialist will undertake the following tasks:
● Act as the first-line ICT user support.
● Maintain, upgrade or enhance existing systems including troubleshooting and providing continuing user support including laptops, printers, mobile devices, and their associated software and peripherals.
● Arrange and oversee maintenance for ICT related services, including keeping stocks of spare parts and equipment to support the repair and maintenance of ICT equipment.
● In the absence of ICT Specialist, Escalate the case to UNFPA HQ when necessary, if a local solution is not possible.
● Maintain Global Directory, Quantum profile requests, email access, group lists.
● Configure, set up and maintain office LAN and WAN systems.
● Employ state of the art ICT vendor management practices to ensure that services provided by vendors are acceptable.
● Support automation of office workflows, innovation and digitalization initiatives of the RO.
● Support creation and visualization of KM tools and products, including regional projects.
● Provide ICT support during internal/external office meetings, including with video and audio conferencing set up preparation.
● Maintains an up-to-date inventory of software and hardware in the RO.
● Work in tandem and backstop RO ICT Specialist to ensure uninterrupted service provision by the RO to COs.
● Undertake other duties related to the ICT as may be required by the RO.
