ISTANBUL/HONG KONG, 17 February 2023 – UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, and amma.family, an app developer for women and families, have completed the first year of a partnership aimed at bringing quality reproductive health content to the millions of users of the amma pregnancy tracker mobile application.

“We are excited about this partnership, which allows us to bring quality reproductive health information to the amma app’s millions of users,” said Florence Bauer, UNFPA’s Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. “The materials are based on current scientific and medical research and provide clear answers to frequent questions that women and their families have about pregnancy and related reproductive health issues.”

Topics covered under the partnership that launched in early 2022 include family planning, women's health before, during and after pregnancy, as well as the impact of COVID-19 on pregnancy and breastfeeding, and gender equality issues.

“The partnership with UNFPA highlights the benefits that our mobile service provides to the world. We have been working together to create content using the UNFPA’s latest research and expertise. This enables UNFPA to share its knowledge and add value to our content," said Eugene Zhikharev, CEO of amma.family.

"Up to now our co-created content has reached more than 5.1 million reads around the world”, added Olga Zamyatina, Chief Content Officer at amma.family.

The amma app is one of the world’s largest communities of pregnant women and their families. It is downloaded by over 10 million users annually, or about 7% of all pregnant women worldwide, and has over 1.5 million monthly active users, according to company data. The app holds a particular high market share in Eastern Europe, in Central Asia, and in Latin America.
