Ministerial dialogue 6: FINANCING OF SOCIAL POLICIES IN A NEW DEMOGRAPHIC REALITY

The major economic and demographic changes we are living through fundamentally challenge the financing of social protection and policies. Digitization, machine learning, robotics and artificial intelligence, coupled with ageing, low fertility and migration are causing major demographic shifts. These changes bring anxiety about the future of labour markets, social protection, pensions, health care and other services.

This session brings together a diverse group of experts, thinkers and activists. We will debate the implications of changing demographics, changing economic environments, and discuss how we can sustainably finance adequate social policies. We will ask, how can countries reform education, health care and social protection systems? How will we protect the most vulnerable and make sure citizens are empowered to engage in financially viable, sustainable, socioeconomic development?
