Intercountry Meeting on Accelerating Progress to Improve Sexual and Reproductive Health in Europe

Policy-makers, experts, and representatives from WHO collaborating centres and aid development partners will meet in Stockholm, Sweden, on 30–31 August 2018 to assess country-level progress two years on from the adoption of the Action Plan for Sexual and Reproductive Health.

In 2016, European Member States and the WHO Regional Committee for Europe adopted the Action Plan, which was designed to support progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Europe. This committed participating Member States to take actions to improve sexual and reproductive health in their countries in a number of key areas, including the reduction of related inequities.

The Public Health Agency of Sweden (Folkhälsomyndigheten), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and WHO/Europe will jointly hold the upcoming intercountry meeting.

It will provide an opportunity for a wide range of key professionals with roles in sexual and reproductive health to discuss the progress made, and to share both their successes and the barriers to implementation they have encountered.

While Member States will produce a progress report in 2019, at this meeting delegates will be able to discuss advancements and share ideas in a less formal setting. They will engage with case studies of positive outcomes from selected countries, and attend panel discussions and sessions focused on the policies, programmes and systems needed to accelerate the improvement of sexual and reproductive health in the WHO European Region.

The meeting will support continued progress towards the commitments of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals.

Attendance is by appointment or invitation only.
