The UNFPA Eastern Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (EECARO), in close cooperation with the WHO Regional Office for Europe (WHO/Europe), will be organizing a Consultation of Countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, “Accelerating the Implementation of Regional and National Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Frameworks” on 14-15 March 2016 in Tbilisi, Georgia. This consultation will bring together representatives of ministries of health involved in policy decisions in the area of reproductive health; staff from UNFPA and WHO country offices in Eastern and Central Europe; and experts in sexual and reproductive health.
The consultation will aim at discussing the European Action Plan for Human-Rights-Based Sexual and Reproductive Health (2017-2021) which is in the process of being prepared by WHO/Europe and its partners, including UNFPA. The expected outcomes of the meeting are a consensus on the Action Plan and recommendations on further improvement of SRH in the countries of Eastern and Central Europe. The European Action Plan for Human-Rights-Based Sexual and Reproductive Health will provide a framework to guide and inform development of country-specific policy responses, action plans and programmes in improving sexual and reproductive health in the European region.
