Dara, UNFPA's #bodyright ambassador in Moldova campaigns for online boundaries

Nicoleta Dara, known as Dara, is a singer from the Republic of Moldova. She knows firsthand the consequences of cyberbullying and online harassment. Insults, offensive comments and abuse of her photos are just some of the challenges she has faced in the virtual world. Bodyright is a social movement that asks us all to take gender-based online violence seriously. We all need to understand our role in it and work together to drive real change and online protections for every girl, woman and young person, everywhere.

With the global population recently reaching 8 billion, we can celebrate many signs of human progress. Better health and longer lives brought us to this point. Yet a sobering reality is how uneven progress has been, and how systematically violence against women and girls still robs so many of dignity, well-being and the right to peace.
