The Youth Partner serves the dual purpose of a) connecting UNFPA better to youth networks and organizations in the region, and b) to provide a youth voice in UNFPA regional programming.

The objectives are:

  1. Strengthen youth networks, the relationships among youth networks and collaboration with UNFPA
  2. Promote ICPD through a young voice and movement of young people
  3. Build new partnerships with youth NGOs and networks in 5 Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia) to intensify HIV response and address SRHR needs of young key populations.
  4. Increased visibility of UNFPA, especially among youth.
  5. Ensure youth voice in UNFPA regional programming.

Scope of work:

The Youth Partner works on the principle of secondment. UNFPA will support a young activist from the region with strong connection to regional youth network and continued engagement with youth led or youth-serving organization. The young activist will support UNFPA’s engagement with young people, and support UNFPA’s accountability to young people at the regional level. The position aims to support the sending youth organization and youth networks. The selected person for the role is expected to be accountable also to the youth organization and network the activist form part of. The seconded position will rotate between young activists from different network with each seconded HIV and Youth Mobilizer spending 4-11 month at UNFPA regional office in Istanbul. One youth organization cannot be represented in consecutive terms.

Youth organization can be local, national or regional, but should have the capacity to engage in regional events.
